About Us

Our History

Citizens Offering Parker Police Support (COPPS) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization created and managed by graduates of the Parker Police Department’s Citizen’s Academy. Founded in 2018, COPPS has continued to grow and evolve to meet the needs of our officers, members, and community.

We volunteer our time and fundraise in support of the Parker Police Department. We work closely with police department leadership to support programs and initiatives that our officers need most to keep themselves and our community safe.

FUNDRAISING

Thanks to our fundraising and the generosity of individuals, businesses, and churches, we’ve raised over $30,000 to support the police department.

Through our efforts, we have helped raise funds to:

  • Update the PPD's Mobile Command Center
  • Provide veterinary care for the Mounted Patrol and our PPD K-9s
  • Purchase a PPD-branded saddle for the Mounted Patrol
  • Support the PPD's Annual Awards dinner recognizing our PPD officers
  • Provide reflective vests for our "Adopt-a-Street" clean-up volunteers
  • Support the PPD's involvement in various community outreach programs including Shop with a Cop, Coffee with a Cop, Mayor's Annual Tree Lighting

VOLUNTEERS IN ACTION

  • As part of the Town of Parker’s Adopt-a-Street program, we’ve adopted one of the most visible stretches of Mainstreet to do good for our community.
  • We support police department events throughout the year, including Shop with a Cop and Coffee with a Cop, which are some of the most positive community events in Parker.
  • Our members volunteer within the police department, enabling the department to accomplish more and support new initiatives.
  • We’ve participated in unique programs, such as the Parker Police Explorers program and Teen Academy, which help teenagers learn about and experience the work that first responders do every day.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

  • Our members have participated in activities that include touring the Douglas County Coroner’s Office, using the police simulator, visiting the Counterterrorism Education Learning Lab, and more.
  • Our guest speakers often include members and leadership from Parker Police Department. Recent topics of discussion have included:

  •    New technology used by PPD
  •    Critical Response Team
  •    Victims’ Advocates
  •    Emergency Management
  •    Update on Mounted Patrol activities
  •    Traffic accident investigation team

RECOGNITION

  • We were recognized with a Citizen Commendation at Parker’s Annual Police Department Awards Ceremony.
  • We’ve been featured in Parker’s Talk of the Town newsletter and on the ABC7 local news.
